The Fábrica Alentejana de Lanifícios was founded out of a desire to preserve a heritage and carry on a history that spans centuries. It aims to promote the Reguengos de Monsaraz region and its culture by showcasing an ancestral art form in a responsible and sustainable manner. Here, the traditional techniques, elements, and motifs passed down through generations are preserved. Weaving is carried out using traditional artisanal methods, and the loom remains the primary tool of the trade.

Ideal for regulating heat and temperature — Merino wool isn’t just for winter. Sheep of this breed live in regions with wide temperature fluctuations and adapt thanks to the wool that protects them. The fiber regulates temperature, absorbs moisture, and retains heat. Thanks to its hygroscopic properties, the wool constantly reacts to changes in ambient temperature, ensuring comfort in both cold and warm weather.
Wool is naturally safe, does not promote bacterial growth, and, due to its water and nitrogen content, is less flammable than synthetic fibers. It is a flame-retardant material, widely used in the aerospace and automotive industries.
Merino wool fibers are complex and composed primarily of keratin, just like human hair. They are extremely flexible and can be stretched thousands of times without breaking, which gives garments great strength and stability.
It does not attract dust and is therefore suitable for people who are sensitive to dust mites or dust.
Because it is odor-free and does not allow bacteria to proliferate, the wool remains odorless even after prolonged use.
