Taschen is a German publisher founded in 1980 by Benedikt Taschen. It started out as Taschen Comics, and over the 1990s it established itself in the publishing market not only in painting, but also in the area of ​​design, architecture, photography, queer, advertising, cinema, theater, lifestyle and classical art , modern and contemporary. In 1999, Taschen expanded into the luxury market, with the book by photographer Helmut Newton, Sumo. It was a limited edition of ten thousand copies and the number 1 was signed by more than 80 celebrities and auctioned, being the most expensive book ever obtained in the 20th century.
